Role overview
The AWS Business Development Manager role focuses on expanding AWS business in New Zealand. The position is centred on finding, engaging, and growing high-potential channel partners, while building partner-led pipelines and executing strategies that increase AWS consumption over time. The role calls for a strong hunter approach, as well as the ability to create scalable partner plans that deliver measurable growth.
Key responsibilities
- Source, approach, and bring on board promising AWS partners throughout New Zealand.
- Manage the partner journey from initial onboarding through first customer workloads and onward growth.
- Maintain a healthy qualified partner pipeline at roughly 3–5 times the target.
- Turn opportunities into closed business using consistent partner-led selling practices.
- Create joint business plans with priority partners, complete with targets and scorecards.
- Coordinate partner enablement through training, certifications, and AWS sales initiatives.
- Use AWS programs such as MAP, OLA, and Marketplace to support migration and growth.
- Ensure strong co-sell execution, governance discipline, and accurate CRM management.
Experience and qualifications
Candidates should bring proven new business development experience in the New Zealand or ANZ technology market. Strong exposure to AWS channel environments, especially distribution or two-tier models, is highly preferred. Experience recruiting and scaling partners such as MSPs, resellers, and ISVs is important, along with a clear understanding of AWS programs including MAP, OLA, and AWS Marketplace. The role also requires strong commercial judgement, forecasting ability, pipeline discipline, and the confidence to work with executive, sales, and technical stakeholders. A strategic mindset, a hunter mentality, and willingness to travel across New Zealand are also expected.
