Role Overview
Penk Valley Academy Trust is looking for a well-organised, proactive and professional Attendance Officer to help drive strong attendance at The Rural Enterprise Academy. In this role, you will work alongside pupils, families, pastoral colleagues and external partners to monitor attendance, spot emerging concerns and put support in place to improve engagement and achievement.
Key Duties
You will keep attendance information accurate and up to date, review attendance patterns and follow up on absences. The role also includes carrying out attendance-based interventions and contributing to safeguarding procedures where attendance concerns are linked to pupil welfare.
Working Environment
The Rural Enterprise Academy is described as a supportive place to work with a positive, open culture and opportunities to be part of its continued development. The Trust values collaboration and shared responsibility across its schools under the motto “Learning Together”.
Trust Context
Penk Valley Academy Trust serves Marshbrook First School, Princefield First School, St John’s First School, St Mary & St Chad CE First School, Penkridge Middle School, Wolgarston High School and The Rural Enterprise Academy. Its goal is to work together so that every child and young person receives an excellent education, achieves strong outcomes and reaches their potential.
Benefits
Employee benefits include high-quality CPD, real career progression prospects across seven schools, access to an Employee Assistance Programme, automatic enrolment in the Local Government Pension Scheme, discounted gym membership, a Cycle to Work scheme and a free will writing service.
Safeguarding and Compliance
This role requires a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Appointment is subject to child protection screening, including references from previous employers and DBS checks. Because staff will have contact with children during the school day, the post is classed as regulated activity. The position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and applicants must declare all convictions and cautions, including those that are spent unless protected under DBS filtering rules.
Visits and Enquiries
Prospective candidates are welcome to arrange an informal visit to the department. To organise a visit or request a call, contact Caroline Perry, Office Manager, at c-perry@penkvalley.co.uk.
