Role overview
An established healthcare employer is hiring an Assistant Payroll Manager to help deliver a payroll service that is accurate, timely, compliant, and efficient for more than 3,000 employees across Ireland. This is a full-time, permanent office-based position in Donegal.
Working alongside the Payroll Manager, you will take ownership of day-to-day payroll coordination, support the payroll team, strengthen processes and controls, and contribute to service improvements and wider business projects. The position suits an experienced payroll professional ready to step into a role with more responsibility in a growing organisation.
What you'll do
- Manage the daily running of weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payroll cycles
- Support and guide the payroll team to maintain strong accuracy and service standards
- Partner with the Payroll Manager on departmental goals and ongoing process improvement
- Help build better payroll workflows, controls, and reporting practices
- Ensure payroll is processed correctly and in line with legal, regulatory, and internal obligations
- Serve as a primary contact for payroll questions and escalations
- Contribute to payroll-related projects, system updates, audits, and change programmes
- Maintain effective controls and ensure adherence to payroll legislation and company policies
About you
We are looking for a payroll specialist with solid technical knowledge, the confidence to coordinate work across a team, and the ability to help keep a large payroll operation running smoothly.
