Architectural Technologist

Role Overview

An established, award-winning architectural studio is seeking an Architectural Technologist to join its team in York. The practice is known for delivering thoughtful, high-quality design across residential, commercial, healthcare, and heritage work. Its portfolio includes bespoke homes, major masterplanning schemes, and complex conservation projects.

Compensation

The salary is GBP 32,000 to GBP 38,000 per year, depending on experience.

Key Duties

• Prepare detailed technical drawings and full construction information packs using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Coordinate technical information through the various RIBA work stages.
• Work closely with architects, consultants, contractors, and clients to keep projects moving efficiently.
• Check that designs meet current UK Building Regulations and relevant industry requirements.
• Tackle technical design issues as they arise during project delivery.
• Support planning submissions, Building Regulations packages, and other construction documentation.
• Keep project information organised and drawing records accurate throughout the design process.
• Attend meetings as needed and carry out site inspections when required to track construction progress.
• Contribute to successful project delivery from early concept stage through to completion.

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant will hold a degree or HNC/HND in Architectural Technology, or a similar discipline. Experience in a UK architectural practice is expected, along with strong capability in Revit; AutoCAD knowledge would also be useful.

A solid grasp of UK Building Regulations, construction detailing, and technical design is important. Experience across multiple sectors, especially residential and commercial, would be an advantage. The role also calls for strong organisation, careful attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to manage several projects at once while meeting deadlines.

CIAT membership, or progress toward chartership, is preferred. The practice is looking for someone proactive, collaborative, and committed to producing high-quality technical design work.
