Role overview
This full-time Analyst role sits within Global Banking and Markets in New York City. The position supports the firm’s Agency Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) and TBA trading activity, with a focus on building early-career expertise in market analytics, trade support, and execution assistance.
The team operates across a broad capital markets platform and works with mortgage lending and origination partners as the business grows. The role is part of a high-performance, inclusive environment with a strong emphasis on results.
Compensation
The posted base pay range is 120,000 to 130,000 per year. This range is only a guide, and the actual offer may differ depending on the successful candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist with Agency MBS and TBA trading workflows, including collateral review, prepayment analysis, and the creation of Python-based tools that improve data handling and reporting.
- Work alongside institutional sales teams to respond to client interest in Agency MBS products by sharing market commentary, liquidity views, and product explanations.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with external dealers, trading desks, and institutional counterparties.
- Track developments in Agency MBS and the wider fixed-income market to spot relative value opportunities, form trade ideas, and relay recommendations to sales teams and clients.
- Prepare daily profit and loss reporting, match trade positions with the middle office, and analyze performance drivers for the desk.
- Support hedging and risk management using TBAs, U.S. Treasuries, swaps, and swaptions while keeping exposures within approved limits and following internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another related discipline is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Up to 3 years of experience in fixed income, whether in trading, analytics, research, or risk, with an interest in Agency MBS/TBA markets.
- Strong quantitative and analytical ability, along with solid problem-solving skills and the capacity to turn market and collateral data into practical insights.
- Hands-on Python experience, including building reusable automation and analytics for analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg or similar fixed-income analytics platforms is preferred.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, especially for client-facing conversations in support of Sales.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage deadlines and shifting priorities in a fast-moving trading environment.
- FINRA Series 7 and 63 are preferred, or the candidate should be able to obtain them.
