Role overview

EY is looking for a Senior Manager in AI & Data with a focus on data governance to support client work in Ireland. This permanent, full-time role sits within the UKI AI & Data business area and may be based in Dublin, Cork, Waterford, Limerick, or Galway. The position is client-facing and may involve occasional travel.

In this role, you will work with multidisciplinary teams to help organisations unlock value from data, strengthen governance practices, and improve how information is managed, shared, and used. The work spans multiple industries and service lines, with an emphasis on helping clients respond to changing regulations, improve data quality, and build robust enterprise data capabilities.

What you will do

You will help design and deliver enterprise data governance and data management initiatives that support client goals, business efficiency, and long-term data capability building. The role requires a combination of strategic thinking, leadership, client relationship management, and practical delivery across complex environments.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across different industries to help clients use analytics to improve performance and transform their businesses.
• Create enterprise-level data governance structures, including policies, standards, and operating processes aligned to business needs.
• Build and roll out data management and governance roadmaps with clear priorities for organisation-wide data capability development.
• Support clients in defining and enforcing effective data management policies.
• Spot opportunities to use data assets to improve business efficiency and unlock new value.
• Lead teams delivering data governance work using suitable tools and infrastructure for cleaning, storing, and managing data.
• Develop data quality frameworks that improve the reliability of data across key domains and business processes.
• Work with partners, directors, and senior managers to identify and pursue potential business opportunities.
• Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
• Design secure and efficient methods for handling and analysing data, including technical controls and procedures.
• Define rules and working procedures for data sharing with senior leaders and other stakeholders.
• Advise clients on best practices for adapting to evolving data regulations and technology changes.
• Contribute commercial insights, tailor approaches to operational and cultural needs, and support thought leadership.

Skills and experience needed

The ideal candidate brings significant hands-on experience in data governance and data management, along with the confidence to lead people and projects in demanding client settings. Strong communication and leadership capabilities are essential.

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD qualification.
• At least 7 years of experience in data governance and data management.
• Working knowledge of governance tools and platforms such as Collibra, Alation, and Informatica.
• Previous people management experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to mentor and develop others while managing scope, budgets, timelines, deliverables, and expectations.
• Comfort translating technical ideas into clear, non-technical language.
• Professional approach and the ability to work effectively in complex, diverse, and changing client environments.
• Strong motivation to contribute to the growth of the team and the wider Data Analytics practice.
• Relevant data governance or data management certification, such as DAMA or EDMC.
