Overview
There is one permanent full-time position available in Paraparaumu, Wellington, based at the Willis Street site. The salary band for this role is NZD 111,020 to NZD 133,696, with the final offer depending on relevant experience.
This opportunity sits within a values-led children and family services environment focused on the safety and wellbeing of tamariki and rangatahi. The work is grounded in a whānau-led approach that emphasises awhi, collaboration, and mana-enhancing support for whānau and communities.
Wellington offers a compact, highly walkable coastal setting with strong public transport, a lively café culture, and a mix of corporate and government activity. The role is suited to someone who wants to contribute to better outcomes for tamariki, mokopuna, and whānau while working in a connected and innovative region.
About the organisation
The organisation is committed to improving the safety and wellbeing of tamariki and the wider community it serves in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Its work is guided by values of mana, tika and pono, aroha, and whakapapa, which influence how services are delivered and how outcomes are pursued across the site plan.
This position offers a chance to help shape a more culturally grounded way of working, supporting change across the care and protection system through practical innovation and stronger outcomes for children, young people, and families.
Role purpose
As Supervisor, you will lead, support, and oversee a team of social workers operating across the Willis Street area. The team works alongside iwi and other government and non-government organisations to support tamariki and whānau, so building strong and respectful relationships will be essential.
You will be responsible for identifying team development needs, strengthening capability, and ensuring practice depth continues to grow. A key part of the role is managing workflow so decisions are made accurately and in a timely way.
Your practice and leadership must align with the organisation’s Practice Framework, Principles, and Standards, while also contributing to the wider leadership and operational network through collaboration with peer supervisors and regional leaders.
The position requires a strong commitment to keeping tamariki central to every decision. You will be expected to apply mana tamaiti, whakapapa, and whanaungatanga in your work, with a particular focus on being responsive to tamariki and whānau Māori. Staff wellbeing is also prioritised, with regular supervision and appropriate breaks supported as part of the role.
