Role overview
Join a purpose-led, member-owned bank in a payroll position where you will manage end-to-end fortnightly payroll, support staff and leaders, and help improve payroll systems and workflows. The role offers a collaborative team environment with flexibility and hybrid working.
Key responsibilities
- Run fortnightly payroll accurately and ensure all processing is completed by the required deadlines.
- Work out wages, salaries, overtime, allowances, leave balances and payroll corrections.
- Enter and process new hires, employment updates and departures.
- Make sure payroll activity aligns with applicable laws, tax obligations, superannuation rules, awards and enterprise agreements.
- Keep employee payroll records accurate and safeguard confidential information.
- Answer payroll questions professionally and resolve pay-related issues and discrepancies.
- Prepare payroll reports and support year-end payroll tasks.
- Assist with payroll system improvements, testing and broader continuous improvement efforts.
What you should bring
You will need solid payroll knowledge, strong accuracy, and a service-focused approach. Experience with Australian payroll requirements, payroll software and Excel will help you succeed in this role.
Qualifications and experience
- Hands-on experience in payroll processing or payroll administration.
- Good understanding of Australian payroll legislation, taxation and superannuation.
- Experience working with payroll systems and advanced Microsoft Excel ability.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to build working relationships.
- Discretion when managing confidential and sensitive information.
- Certificate IV in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Payroll Administration, or a similar field will be viewed favourably.
