The Lead, Analytics Developer will sit within Group Technology and report to the Head of Data & Analytics / Business Information Management. This position is responsible for guiding the creation, rollout, and continuous improvement of analytics solutions and insights that help shape strategic decisions across the Group.

The role centers on BI delivery and analytics, with a strong focus on building effective visualizations and turning data into business insight. A practical understanding of banking processes and financial measures is important, as the role requires converting business needs into analytics outputs that are meaningful for stakeholders. Strategic responsibilities

Shape the Group’s BI and reporting direction so it supports business performance management and informed decision-making.
Create common standards for KPIs, reporting structures, and dashboard design across the organization.
Guide the end-to-end architecture of BI solutions, from data modeling through to visualization.
Encourage strong data visualization practices and expand self-service analytics adoption.
Work with business leaders to identify where analytics can improve productivity, efficiency, and performance.
Make sure reporting and analytics outputs support financial reporting, regulatory obligations, and performance management needs.

Operational responsibilities

Oversee the full development and delivery cycle of BI products, including dashboards, reports, and analytics tools.
Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that are intuitive, high-performing, and insight-rich.
Turn business requirements into data models, metrics, and visual outputs that drive action.
Develop and support semantic and dimensional data models used for reporting.
Maintain accuracy and consistency across financial and operational reports.
Apply strong validation and quality assurance controls to all analytics outputs.
Coordinate closely with data engineering teams so pipelines and reporting layers stay aligned.
Improve BI solutions for speed, scale, and reuse.
Provide ongoing support, enhancements, and tuning for current reports and dashboards.
Coach the team on best practices in data visualization, data modeling, insight creation, and storytelling.
Plan and balance team workloads, priorities, and delivery timelines to meet business expectations.
Ensure all reporting outputs follow data governance, security, and regulatory requirements.
Stay up to date with market trends and best practices to help guide future data vision, architecture, and strategy.

Experience and qualification requirements

You should have at least 7 years of experience in BI development, analytics, or data visualization.
At least 3 years of experience must be in a leadership or team management role.
A strong history of delivering enterprise BI and reporting solutions is required.
Advanced Power BI development experience is essential and mandatory.
You need strong SQL skills and experience with data modeling, including dimensional models and semantic layers.
Working knowledge of cloud data platforms and cloud-based visualization tools is required.
Understanding of banking operations, financial performance metrics, and regulatory reporting is an advantage.
You should have working knowledge of data governance, metadata management, data lineage, and data security, including compliance considerations.
Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills are necessary, along with the ability to explain technical topics in business terms.
Experience in financial services or another regulated environment is highly desirable.
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related discipline is required.

Additional advantages

A master’s degree in Analytics, Business Administration, or a related field is a plus.
Professional certifications in Azure, Data Engineering, or Architecture would be beneficial.
Bilingual ability in English and French, or another African language, is an advantage.
Experience in a pan-African or multi-country setting is also a plus.
