Role overview
EMS Healthcare is looking for an IT Engineer to deliver practical, hands-on support across its technology landscape. The position is centred on keeping colleagues connected to the systems, devices and services they rely on, with an emphasis on reliability, security and day-to-day service quality.
This role covers operational support across incidents, service requests, endpoint administration, Microsoft 365, user access, networking, cyber security controls and core business applications. You will collaborate with internal teams, external suppliers and the wider IT function to investigate issues, maintain assets, assist with onboarding and offboarding, improve documentation and support technology projects.
The ideal person will be confident troubleshooting technical problems, communicating clearly with a wide range of people, managing priorities effectively and taking a proactive approach to improving IT service delivery.
Main duties
- Deliver first- and second-line support for colleagues, resolving incidents and service requests promptly and professionally.
- Set up, configure, deploy and look after laptops, desktops, mobile devices, printers and other IT equipment.
- Manage user accounts, access permissions, groups and related changes within Microsoft 365, Active Directory and key business systems.
- Support Microsoft 365 tools and services such as Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online and Intune where relevant.
- Diagnose and fix issues affecting hardware, software, network connectivity, VPN, Wi‑Fi, printing and peripherals in office, remote and mobile settings.
- Keep IT asset information accurate, from purchase and rollout through support, returns and disposal.
- Assist with joining, changing and leaving processes by granting and removing access in line with IT and information security procedures.
- Carry out everyday security measures such as MFA support, endpoint protection checks, patching activity and escalation of possible security incidents.
- Prepare and update technical documentation, user guides, asset records and knowledge base articles.
- Support technology projects, service improvements, supplier liaison and deployment of new tools across the business.
Experience and skills
While previous experience is preferred, the role is aimed at someone who already has exposure to IT support or service desk work and is comfortable working across Windows environments, Microsoft 365, user administration and common business applications. Experience with hardware, software, networking, printing, remote access and mobile devices would be useful, as would familiarity with IT asset tracking, documentation or a service management/ticketing system.
Strong diagnostic ability is important, particularly across Windows, Microsoft 365, endpoints, applications and connectivity issues. A solid understanding of Microsoft 365, Windows operating systems, Active Directory, device management and basic networking principles is expected, along with awareness of cyber security practices such as MFA, password control, endpoint protection, patching and access management.
You should also be comfortable prioritising competing requests, handling tickets efficiently and explaining technical matters clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues. Accuracy in record keeping and documentation, plus a customer-focused and proactive attitude, will be important for success in the role.
Other requirements
