Information Technology - Data Scientist (Data Science Track)

Role overview

Singapore Airlines is hiring junior and senior data scientists to contribute to its artificial intelligence, data science, and business analytics programs. The role is centered on building practical, scalable solutions that help teams make faster and better-informed decisions.

What you will do

• Join an internal AI and data science team working across areas such as generative AI, autonomous agents, natural language processing, computer vision, recommender systems, mathematical optimization, game theory, and experimental design.
• Partner with business stakeholders to design AI, data science, and analytics capabilities that create measurable impact. Develop scalable machine learning and deep learning solutions and expose them through API microservices for software applications and business users.
• Coordinate with external technology partners by supplying datasets, reviewing the products or services they build, and helping validate prediction models before they are moved into production on cloud platforms.
• Work with application development teams to embed AI/ML functions into API-based microservices and operational systems.
• Be open to deployment to any subsidiary within the Singapore Airlines Group.

Required background and skills

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a closely related field is required.
• Postgraduate qualifications such as an MS or PhD in machine learning or another AI-related discipline are preferred.
• You should have solid programming ability in Python, along with working knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and SQL.
• Experience with modern development languages and paradigms such as Scala, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, or C# will be considered an advantage.
• Exposure to big-data processing tools such as Spark and Kafka, including workflow, map-reduce, and streaming systems, is desirable.
• You should bring relevant internship or industry exposure as a practical data scientist or AI engineer, with hands-on experience in shallow and/or deep learning.
• Strong familiarity with the core concepts covered in an introductory statistical learning text is expected.
• Additional strengths include working with large language models through prompt engineering, using tools like OpenAI ChatGPT or Bing Chat, and familiarity with frameworks such as LlamaIndex and LangChain.
• Experience with GPU-enabled deep learning libraries such as PyTorch and TensorFlow is an advantage.
• Understanding of Bayesian statistics, Bayesian inference, or causal networks for probabilistic reasoning is helpful.
• Any hands-on exposure to AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar public cloud platforms will be beneficial.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills are important for collaborating with both technical teams and non-technical business users.
• Prior experience with Agile, Scrum, or Kanban ways of working is a plus.
