Hitch Service Technician

Role Overview

U-Haul is looking for a practical, technically capable individual to join as a Hitch Service Technician in a moving and storage center lot in Worcester, Massachusetts. This role focuses on helping customers with towing solutions while using hands-on skills and product knowledge to deliver dependable service.

Compensation and Hiring Incentives

The company highlights a “Hire Fast, Pay Fast” approach, meaning selected candidates can begin work the same day and receive payment the same day. Candidates may complete two hands-on working interviews, with pay provided for each. A $100 hiring bonus is offered, along with a $300 cash bonus after completing U-Haul Equipment Inspection and Verification through the 1-2-3 Punch Certification Program at retail stores.

Key Duties

The technician will need to explain U-Haul’s towing package options clearly, match customers with the appropriate tow setup for their vehicles, and install the selected equipment. Strong customer support is central to the job, and additional tasks may be assigned as needed. Ongoing learning through U-Haul University is also part of the role.

Work Environment

This position may involve moderate safety risks or discomforts, including work near moving parts, machinery, fumes, or irritating chemicals. Protective gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields may be required.

Physical Requirements

The job calls for a degree of physical effort, including spending extended periods indoors and outdoors, moving around workspaces, changing positions to access tools, and lifting at least 50 lbs with or without assistance.

Requirements

Applicants should have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving history. Basic experience with wiring and hand or power tools is also required, along with a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
