Role Overview
We are looking for a meticulous Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations and compliance across the US, Europe, and India. This position focuses on data accuracy, jurisdiction setup, compliance monitoring, report validation, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. You will not run payroll end-to-end; instead, you will help payroll managers maintain accurate records, compliant system configurations, and well-reconciled outputs. The role also includes support for payroll accounting and global process integrity.
Core Responsibilities
This role involves assisting payroll teams with day-to-day operations, ensuring payroll inputs are complete, validating reports before approval, and coordinating across regions and functions. You will also help manage US state tax and unemployment insurance registrations, support global payroll leads, contribute to accounting close activities, and maintain documentation for filings, notices, and statutory changes.
Additional Information
Location: Greater Kolkata Area. Employment type: Full-time. Work arrangement: Remote.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate brings 3 to 5+ years of relevant experience in payroll support, payroll operations, or a closely related area. Hands-on experience with US state tax setup, SUI registration, and multi-state compliance is essential. Experience supporting payroll across multiple countries is required for the US and preferred for Europe and India. You should also have a practical understanding of accounting concepts, payroll general ledger reconciliation, payroll or HRIS systems, strong Excel capability, and a careful approach to confidential data.
Preferred Background
Payroll certifications such as FPC or CPP are a plus. Experience in high-growth or multi-entity environments is preferred, along with familiarity with systems such as Workday, BambooHR, Rippling, ADP, Deel, Remote.com, or comparable platforms.
Soft Skills
Success in this role requires strong organization, the ability to manage priorities across time zones, quick identification of issues or discrepancies, clear communication, and a collaborative approach. You should also be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment that continues to evolve.
