Role overview

We are looking for a Data Scientist to join the Fulfilment team in Singapore. This role sits within a cross-functional group working across Singapore, India, and Indonesia to tackle some of the most important challenges in the business. The team’s focus is to make order fulfilment efficient while balancing the needs of customers, drivers, and merchants.

In the first six months, you will help improve dynamic driver incentive systems so that on-demand services remain reliable. This is a high-impact position where your work in data science will directly influence user experience and driver earnings. It is well suited to someone who enjoys solving meaningful problems in a fast-paced environment and wants their work to have visible impact at scale.

About the team

The Fulfilment team works on some of the highest-leverage problems in the organisation. Its real-time systems support all on-demand offerings, including food delivery, ride-hailing, and logistics, and help fulfil millions of orders every day.

The team addresses complex operational and technical questions such as selecting the right driver incentive structure within budget and supply goals, adjusting pricing to improve revenue while balancing demand and driver earnings, identifying which driver traits correlate with successful long-distance trip completion, predicting food preparation time so drivers can be dispatched at the right moment, and making these decisions in near real time within milliseconds.

Solving these challenges requires more than data and models; it also calls for strong product thinking, experimentation, and the ability to operate at scale. The team has access to rich data, close partnerships across functions, and modern MLOps infrastructure to build and deploy solutions efficiently. What you will do

• Break down complex business issues into clear technical problems that can be addressed with data, statistics, and machine learning.
• Work with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to create and scale data science solutions for driver allocation, surge pricing, and incentive design.
• Take ownership of the full machine learning workflow, from early ideation and research through model building, pipeline creation, deployment, experimentation, and delivery of measurable business value.
• Use machine learning, causal inference, optimisation, and simulation methods to improve the effectiveness of dynamic driver incentives.
• Plan, run, and interpret experiments to assess model impact, partnering with analysts and product teams to define strong evaluation methods and success metrics.
• Track model performance over time, spot opportunities for improvement, and recommend practical solutions.
• Present insights, trade-offs, and technical decisions clearly to cross-functional audiences while working independently in ambiguous problem areas.

What you need

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, or another quantitative discipline.
• A strong grasp of statistics and machine learning fundamentals, backed by coursework or projects that show practical use.
• Hands-on proficiency in Python and SQL, along with familiarity with data analysis or modelling libraries.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability, including the capacity to reason from data and explain findings clearly.
• Comfort with learning quickly, taking initiative, and collaborating effectively in a cross-functional environment.
• Curiosity, humility, and a strong motivation to use data science to solve real-world problems at scale.
