Role Overview

The Customer Engineer will handle installation, upkeep, and repair work on equipment across an assigned area to keep customer operations running smoothly and maintain strong customer satisfaction. This role also includes taking ownership of customer issues until they are resolved to the customer’s satisfaction or within agreed service levels.

Key Responsibilities

The position involves service work on low-complexity financial and ATM-related products. This includes minor repairs and component replacement on Tier I equipment such as PCs, workstations, peripherals, printers, front-end POS systems, second-line ATM and kiosk maintenance, and single-pocket proof encoders. The role also supports site readiness activities such as cable installation, equipment staging, and basic testing, along with modular swaps and unit replacements when needed.

The Customer Engineer is expected to respond to customer complaints by resolving them directly or escalating them to the appropriate associate, team member, territory manager, or control tower. Building effective local customer relationships and maintaining a professional image of the company are also important parts of the job.

Additional duties include preventive maintenance on assigned products, troubleshooting issues, performing module-level repairs, and following strict security procedures when working on ATMs or inside financial institutions. The role requires careful handling of NCR-owned assets such as tools, software, vehicles, documentation, and intellectual property, as well as managing parts inventory and related records.

Accurate and timely reporting is required for service calls, activities, and all service-related expenses, including phone, private vehicle, and public transport costs. The role also includes collecting detailed customer asset information and other data needed for invoicing and billing. Work may be assigned day by day or scheduled independently from automated reports. The position may involve extended travel, lifting and carrying tool kits or parts weighing 1 to 50 lbs, working in physically demanding postures for long periods, and rotating shifts. The Customer Engineer must also support productivity targets and coordinate with call center staff via PDA and a security escort officer to recover machines.

Requirements

• A valid driving licence is mandatory.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Windows operating systems is required.
• Background in PC hardware maintenance and support is preferred.
• A degree in Electronics, Engineering, or another technical discipline is preferred.
• Experience with NCR or similar equipment is an advantage.
• CCNA certification is preferred.
