Role overview
National Museums Scotland is seeking a reliable and motivated Cleaner to join its Facilities Management team at the National Museum of Scotland on Chambers Street, Edinburgh. This is a part-time position for 25 hours per week, working from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM on a 5-in-7 rota.

Compensation and working pattern
The annual salary for this role is £18,805, which works out to £14.41 per hour. The post is part-time and the number of holiday days and public holidays will be adjusted in line with contracted hours.
Working hours: 25 hours per week, 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, 5 days out of 7.
About the team
Cleaner roles are a key part of keeping the museum welcoming for both visitors and colleagues. The team is responsible for maintaining clean, tidy, and presentable spaces across customer-facing and staff areas, helping create a strong sense of care and professionalism throughout the museum.
Key duties
- Perform a range of cleaning and housekeeping tasks across the museum site.
- Help maintain a positive and pleasant experience for visitors.
- Use cleaning machinery and equipment where needed.

Candidate profile
- Good understanding of cleaning and hygiene methods and procedures.
- Experience working effectively as part of a team.
- Previous practical cleaning experience in a relevant setting.
- Ability to work in line with standard operating procedures.
