About the Opportunity
BDO’s North Queensland practice is expanding, and the Cairns office is looking for a Bookkeeper to join its Accounting Outsourcing team. This role suits someone who is motivated, proactive, and ready to provide dependable bookkeeping and accounting support while helping strengthen client relationships and contribute to the success of the Business Services team.
What the Role Involves
You will work with a diverse portfolio of clients and take on responsibilities that go beyond standard bookkeeping. The position includes maintaining ledgers, posting journals, completing reconciliations, preparing reports, supporting BAS and IAS lodgements, and handling payroll, superannuation, and payroll tax obligations. You will also assist with management reporting and advisory tasks, while using modern cloud-based platforms and accounting tools such as MYOB and Xero.

What You Need
To be successful, you should either hold a Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or be actively working toward it. Experience using MYOB and Xero is important, along with strong written and spoken communication skills. You should also bring good initiative, sound organisation, excellent time management, strong IT skills, and confidence using Microsoft Office and learning new systems quickly. A genuine focus on client service and the ability to build respectful, trusted working relationships are also key.
