Role overview
As an Account Manager, you will be responsible for deepening relationships with existing customers and helping them get the greatest possible value from Runpod’s AI infrastructure platform. This position blends customer success and sales, with the main emphasis on keeping accounts healthy, retaining customers, and uncovering expansion opportunities rather than pursuing new logos.
Performance in this role is evaluated through metrics such as retention, renewals, expansion revenue, and overall account health. Strong results mean not only meeting annual renewal goals, but also increasing upsells and cross-sells to improve net revenue retention over time. Success also depends on keeping customers satisfied, planning accounts thoughtfully, and maintaining accurate forecasts in the CRM.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the primary contact for a defined portfolio of current customers.
- Track account health indicators such as usage, billing, feature adoption, and churn risk, then take early action when needed.
- Support renewals and grow revenue through upsells and cross-sells, including more GPU capacity, additional modules, or premium support.
- Lead quarterly and monthly business reviews to share ROI, product roadmap updates, usage insights, and new capabilities.
- Work with product, engineering, and support teams to troubleshoot issues, push feature requests, and remove customer blockers.
- Create account plans, growth roadmaps, and forecasting models for each customer.
- Measure and report account performance metrics such as churn, net revenue retention, expansion revenue, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage renewals, commercial discussions, and escalation handling.
- Keep CRM records current, including pipeline details, account notes, and forecasts.
- Support onboarding or account transitions when needed.
- Travel occasionally to meet major customers or attend important industry events.
Requirements
- 2 to 5 years of experience in account management, customer success, or other post-sales roles, preferably in SaaS, cloud, or infrastructure.
- Solid technical understanding and the confidence to speak with both developers and senior business leaders.
- Strong relationship-building ability and experience handling multiple stakeholders across technical and commercial functions.
- Working knowledge of account metrics such as churn, usage, ARR/MRR, and net revenue retention.
- Comfort interpreting usage data, identifying trends, and turning insights into recommendations.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Experience using CRM systems, analytics tools, and collaboration platforms such as Slack.
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of accounts.
- Helpful background in cloud services, GPU infrastructure, AI/ML, or developer tools is a plus.
- Successful completion of a background check is required.
- Eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
Compensation and benefits
The expected on-target earnings for this position range from 130,000 to 250,000, combining base pay and commission. The final package may vary depending on experience, qualifications, location, and career level discussed during hiring.
