Software Asset Manager

Overview

A global financial services organisation in Dublin is looking for an IT Asset Management and CMDB Analyst to oversee technology assets, configuration records, and software compliance. The role combines governance of the ServiceNow CMDB with software asset management in Flexera to keep data accurate, complete, and aligned to IT service management, risk, and operational resilience objectives.

Core responsibilities

• Keep Configuration Items in ServiceNow CMDB accurate, current, and fully maintained.
• Manage relationships between CIs so they support service mapping, incident handling, change activity, and problem resolution.
• Protect CMDB data quality by following internal governance rules and DORA-related standards.
• Carry out regular audits, reconciliations, and validation checks across asset and configuration records.
• Oversee software assets in Flexera, including inventory, usage monitoring, and optimisation activities.
• Track licence position closely to avoid under-licensing or over-licensing exposure.
• Review software usage to spot savings, rationalisation opportunities, and better utilisation.
• Provide accurate entitlement and usage information to support software audits.
• Work with vendor management teams by supplying reliable licensing and asset data.
• Monitor IT assets throughout their entire lifecycle from procurement to retirement.
• Keep procurement records, CMDB data, and SAM tool records aligned.
• Maintain visibility of asset ownership, classification, and status across the business.
• Support regulatory and compliance efforts by ensuring configuration and asset data is dependable.
• Apply governance controls across CMDB and SAM processes.
• Contribute evidence, reporting, and support for internal and external audits.
• Resolve data issues and help improve the quality of CMDB and SAM information.
• Support ongoing process improvement, including procedures, documentation, and standards.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in IT Asset Management or Software Asset Management.
• Practical experience with ServiceNow and Service Mapping, covering CMDB, ITAM, or SAM work.
• Background using Flexera or a comparable SAM platform for licence compliance and tracking.
• Solid track record of managing the asset lifecycle.
• Good understanding of software licensing structures such as Microsoft and Oracle.
• Experience contributing to audits, compliance controls, and governance activities.
• Exposure to CMDB governance and data quality management practices.
• Comfort working with procurement, finance, and IT operations stakeholders.
