Senior System Administrator

Role Overview

This position is for an experienced cloud and infrastructure professional who can oversee a mixed environment spanning local datacenter systems, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. The role focuses on keeping enterprise services stable, secure, and high-performing while collaborating with network, security, SOC/NOC, and application teams in a round-the-clock operations setting.

Hybrid Infrastructure Management

• Plan, set up, and support infrastructure across on-premises systems as well as Azure and GCP.
• Handle servers, storage platforms, cloud resources, and business applications.
• Maintain compatibility and smooth integration between different environments.
• Assist with introducing new cloud services, applications, and related technologies.

Azure and GCP Administration

• Operate and maintain Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform environments.
• Administer Azure AD / Entra ID, virtual machines, backup and disaster recovery services, storage accounts, VNets, NSGs, app services, Azure Monitor, and Log Analytics.
• Support GCP components such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, IAM, VPC networking, Cloud Functions, and preferably GKE.

Monitoring, Reporting, and Cost Control

• Track the health and performance of both on-premises and cloud systems.
• Create reports on system status, performance trends, and cloud spend optimization.
• Set up proactive monitoring and alerting mechanisms.
• Apply FinOps practices to help control and reduce cloud costs.

DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management

• Configure and administer Infoblox for DNS, DHCP, and IPAM services across the enterprise.
• Keep IP asset tracking secure, accurate, and dependable.

Server and Enterprise Application Support

• Maintain database, email, application, print, and backup servers.
• Support key enterprise tools and platforms such as Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Exchange Server, System Center, and FIM.

Storage Administration

• Manage enterprise storage environments including HP, IBM, NetApp, and EMC storage solutions.

Security, Backup, and Disaster Recovery

• Carry out server audits, security assessments, and compliance reviews.
• Oversee backup operations and disaster recovery procedures.
• Take part in DR exercises and incident response activities.
• Coordinate closely with SOC and NOC teams during incidents.

Automation and Scripting

• Build and maintain automation using PowerShell and shell scripting.
• Use scripting to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual work.

Documentation and Improvement

• Keep architecture diagrams, configuration records, process documentation, and service logs current.
• Review existing systems and suggest improvements where needed.
• Support implementation of new systems and upgrades.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. The employer is looking for candidates with substantial infrastructure experience: at least 5 years for an L2 Engineer profile, or at least 8 years for an L3 Engineer / Senior System Engineer profile.

Work Environment

This is a full-time onsite role based in Doha, Qatar, and is expected to operate in a 24/7 environment.
