Role overview
This position is for a Payroll Accountant in Sharjah with a professional services organization focused on accurate payroll administration and HR-finance support. The role is suited to finance professionals who want hands-on experience with salary processing, employee compensation handling, statutory adjustments, reconciliation work, and payroll reporting within a structured corporate environment in the UAE.
What you will do
- Help prepare and run the monthly payroll cycle so employees are paid correctly and on schedule.
- Keep employee payroll details current, including salary amounts, allowances, deductions, and benefits.
- Check attendance, leave balances, and overtime figures before payroll is finalized.
- Assist with statutory and payroll-related deductions such as loans, advances, and other adjustments.
- Enter payroll information accurately into the payroll or accounting system.
- Prepare salary slips, payroll statements, and summary reports as needed.
- Protect employee salary and personal data and treat it as strictly confidential.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and help investigate and fix mismatches or errors.
- Support posting of payroll entries into the accounting records.
- Compile payroll reports for management review.
- Follow internal payroll policies, controls, and approval processes.
- Work with HR on employee data changes, new hires, and separations.
- Assist in calculating end-of-service benefits and final settlements.
- Organize and retain payroll files and supporting documentation properly.
- Provide payroll documents and reports during internal or external audits.
- Look for ways to improve payroll accuracy and processing efficiency.
- Respond to employee questions related to payroll in a timely manner.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel and basic payroll procedures.
- Strong accuracy and a careful approach to calculations and data entry.
- Good planning, organization, and time-management abilities.
- Comfort with handling confidential employee information responsibly.
- Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Basic accounting knowledge will be an advantage.
- Exposure to payroll software or ERP systems is considered a plus.
- Ability to perform well in a structured, deadline-oriented workplace.
