Network Administrator

About the Role

The Kings County District Attorney’s Office (KCDA) is among the largest prosecutor offices in the United States and is focused on building and applying forward-looking prosecution strategies that support public safety in Brooklyn while upholding fairness and justice. The office is hiring a Network Administrator for its Information Technology Bureau.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deploy new network solutions, while also strengthening the efficiency and security of the existing environment.
• Set up and maintain firewalls, routing, and switching systems to improve performance and protect the network.
• Support and administer the Cisco Wi-Fi network.
• Identify and resolve configuration issues, outages, and other system problems.
• Coordinate with vendors and help select network equipment for procurement.
• Monitor network performance on an ongoing basis, troubleshoot issues, and help establish policies for network resource usage.
• Install and configure network hardware; maintain servers, related hardware, applications, services, settings, and workstation connectivity.
• Assess security enhancements, suggest system upgrades, support disaster recovery and backup planning, and keep network devices updated with the latest firmware.

• Ability to provide accurate estimates, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with teammates.
• Comfort handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and responding quickly to information requests.
• Self-motivated mindset with initiative, resourcefulness, and sound judgment.
• Prior experience in legal settings such as law firms or court systems is an advantage.
• CCNA and MSCP certification are considered a plus.

Minimum Requirements

• At least one year of relevant network administration experience.
• Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and supporting routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, and DHCP.
• Experience with Cisco VoIP and multisite/datacenter connectivity.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP and VLANs.
• A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field is preferred.
• Availability for 24/7 operational support, including on-call duty and night/weekend shifts as needed.

Additional Information

City of New York employees may qualify for federal student loan forgiveness and state repayment assistance programs. Public service employees who meet program rules may be eligible for the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. In some cases, current City employees in eligible titles who have completed two continuous years of service may live in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. Final residency applicability should be confirmed with the agency representative during the interview process.

Compensation

The annual salary for this role is $82,600.
