Molecular Biologist

Role overview

A biopharmaceutical organisation in South East England is looking for a Molecular Biologist to support its research and development work on a 12-month contract. There is scope for the assignment to be extended or to become a permanent position. The preferred start is in September.

Key duties

• Run molecular and cell biology experiments as part of an R&D team.
• Carry out cell culture activities and in vitro assays to help advance active research programmes.
• Complete gene expression studies and other core molecular biology tasks such as DNA/RNA isolation and RT-qPCR.
• Assist with assay creation, refinement of protocols, and resolution of experimental issues.
• Review, interpret, and present data using Excel and GraphPad Prism.
• Support product development efforts in a gene therapy research setting.

Required background

The role calls for an MSc in a life science subject such as Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Genetics, or an equivalent level of relevant practical experience. You should already have hands-on exposure to cell culture and in vitro lab methods, along with a solid grasp of molecular biology workflows, especially gene expression analysis. The employer is also looking for someone who can pick up new procedures rapidly and work productively within an established research programme with limited supervision.
