Medical Laboratory Associate Practitioner

Role overview

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking a Medical Laboratory Associate Practitioner at Band 4 to join the Microbiology department at The Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport. The role is for 37.5 hours per week, arranged across a 7-day rota and including evening and night shift work.

What you will do

You will assist technical colleagues by carrying out a broad mix of scientific and technical laboratory procedures. The post also involves participation in the department’s out-of-hours rota, and there may be occasions when you are asked to work from other sites.

The work demands careful attention to detail, strong organisation, and a flexible approach.

Skills and experience needed

Applicants should bring previous laboratory experience, good IT ability, strong communication skills, and experience using analysers. An organised, adaptable approach and the ability to work well as part of a team are essential. Experience with a networked pathology computer system is desirable.

Qualifications

You should hold a Biomedical Sciences HNC, an IBMS Certificate of Achievement Parts 1 and 2, or an equivalent qualification.
