Kitchen Helper

Role overview

Hat's Restaurant in Medicine Hat, Alberta is hiring a kitchen helper to support day-to-day food service and back-of-house cleanliness. This is a full-time position based at the restaurant location, and the work must be performed on site with no remote option.

Language

English communication is required.

Education and experience

A secondary school graduation certificate is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience is not required, as training will be provided.

Work setting

The position is in an urban area.

Key duties

• Carry clean dishes, cutlery, and other service items to serving areas and arrange tables.
• Change linens as needed.
• Clear, clean, and reset tables, trays, and chairs.
• Run dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, glassware, and flatware.
• Store cleaned dishes in the proper storage area.
• Prepare packaged take-out orders.
• Clean and sanitize the kitchen, including counters, cupboards, storage spaces, appliances, and equipment.
• Receive deliveries, unpack items, and place supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage spaces.
• Take out kitchen garbage and waste.
• Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors.
• Wash, peel, and cut fruits and vegetables.

Credentials

Food Safety Certificate and Safe Food Handling certificate are required.
