Role overview
The company is seeking an enthusiastic Human Resources Officer at entry level to support day-to-day HR operations. This opportunity suits an early-career HR professional who has practical exposure to microfinance or SACCO environments and wants to build a long-term career in human resources.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with the full recruitment cycle, including hiring and onboarding activities.
- Update and organize employee files, records, and HR systems accurately.
- Support attendance tracking, leave administration, and payroll preparation inputs.
- Help manage performance reviews and employee appraisal processes.
- Contribute to the implementation of HR policies and compliance with employment laws.
- Coordinate staff learning, training, and development activities.
- Deal with basic employee relations issues and staff welfare concerns.
- Support disciplinary procedures and grievance handling processes.
Qualifications and experience
A bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline is required. The ideal candidate should have at least 1 year of HR experience, preferably in a microfinance institution or SACCO. A solid understanding of Uganda’s labor laws and HR practices is important, along with strong communication and interpersonal abilities. The role also requires proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, plus a high standard of integrity, confidentiality, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and work with limited supervision.
