Role overview

The HR Coordinator role is a practical, hands-on position with responsibility for a wide range of HR activities. You will support and lead key processes across recruitment, probation, employee relations, absence handling, compliance, training, retention, and HR record management.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out second-stage, in-person interviews with candidates who have already completed pre-screening through the recruitment shared services team.
  • Make sure newly hired caregivers are onboarded and allocated to their first shifts within the expected timeframe.
  • Assist with National Hiring Week initiatives and related recruitment events.
  • Act as a first point of contact for employee questions and employee relations concerns by phone and email.
  • Handle offboarding processes, including collection of company property, relevant paperwork, and exit interviews.
  • Track sickness and other unplanned absences and help manage them appropriately.
  • Support and improve employee relations by contributing to staff benefits, events, morale, and retention initiatives.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations matters such as investigations, grievances, disciplinary processes, and other formal meetings.
  • Oversee caregiver probation reviews and gather feedback from schedulers and care managers to support the process.
  • Build and maintain an annual employee engagement calendar.
  • Manage mid-year and annual appraisal cycles for caregivers.
  • Plan and coordinate caregiver engagement activities and events such as appreciation week, Caregiver of the Month, summer events, Christmas events, and the annual engagement survey.
  • Keep employee files accurate, compliant with employment law and brand standards, and assist with yearly audits.
  • Ensure HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook remain current and that staff compliance is monitored.
  • Work closely with the National Office HR team to implement HR projects and policies at local offices.
  • Partner with the General Manager and Operations Manager to provide HR and employee relations guidance on caregiver matters.

Skills and experience needed

  • 3 to 4 years of experience in an HR Administrator, Generalist, Specialist, or Coordinator role.
  • Strong attention to detail and a consistently high level of accuracy.
  • Well-developed organisational and administration capabilities.
  • Ability to introduce new ideas and implement practical improvements.
  • Comfort working collaboratively with central HR teams and local management.
  • Respect for confidentiality and discretion in sensitive situations.
  • Experience or understanding of the home care or healthcare sector in Ireland is preferred.
