Role overview

Ward A524 is a care-of-the-elderly ward in the medicine division, and the team is seeking a full-time housekeeper to join its friendly ward environment. In this position, you will support the clinical nursing team so the ward operates efficiently and smoothly.

What the role involves

You will help maintain day-to-day ward operations by managing stock, supporting patient nutrition, and keeping both clinical and non-clinical spaces clean and orderly. The role also includes a mix of non-clinical and clerical duties, along with coordination with other hospital teams.

The post calls for someone who is adaptable, organised, and comfortable working flexibly in a busy healthcare setting. Strong communication is essential, as you will interact with ward colleagues and wider hospital departments regularly.

Main duties

• Oversee ward stores and stock levels, including placing orders through the internal online system.
• Learn the ward’s stock needs and adapt to changing demand.
• Support staff in meeting patients’ nutritional requirements.
• Help maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness across clinical and non-clinical areas.
• Assist with non-clinical tasks and selected clerical work.
• Work with internal teams such as MEMO, estates, and kitchen services to coordinate repairs or obtain equipment.
• Communicate effectively with the ward team and other departments to support the needs of the post.
