HIPE Coder (Grade V)

Role overview

This position is for a HIPE Coder (Grade V) within Galway University Hospitals, under HSE West & North West. The post is a permanent, whole-time internal appointment and sits in the Management/ Admin/ OoCIO staff category. The grade code for the role is 0566.

Location

The initial base will be the HIPE Department at Galway University Hospitals. This covers the GUH campus, including University Hospital, Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital. Depending on service requirements, the successful candidate may be assigned to either site, both sites, or rotate between them. The post-holder may also be asked to work in any nearby service area as operational needs change.

Role profile

The position calls for strong experience in data management, with depth and breadth relevant to the duties of the role. Familiarity with databases, such as SQL or an equivalent tool, is desirable, as is experience using business intelligence and reporting platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar. Prior exposure to clinical information systems or health data would also be an advantage.
