Role overview

Neat is hiring bright and enthusiastic graduate software engineers to join its R&D team in Cambridge. The role supports the next stage of product development for Pulse, the company’s hybrid collaboration technology solution. In this position, you will contribute across the full software lifecycle, from research and design through testing and feature delivery, while working in a small and fast-moving engineering team.

What you will do

• Build and support reliable software in Go, Kotlin, and TypeScript/React.
• Work closely with designers and product managers to create products that are easy to use and well thought out.
• Apply test-focused development practices so the codebase remains highly testable and well covered by tests.
• Review peers’ code and help maintain a strong, collaborative engineering environment.
• Contribute to technical design and architectural decisions together with the product and engineering teams when needed.
• Explore new technologies, evaluate their benefits and drawbacks, and share your findings with the wider engineering group.

Technology areas you may work on

The team handles a wide range of engineering tasks, including cloud services built in Go and run on Docker, Android app development with Kotlin, web development using TypeScript and React, and DevOps work that improves the CI/CD pipeline.

What we are looking for

Applicants should have strong academic results from a respected university, or be able to show exceptional technical ability. Good English communication skills are required. Although the team works mainly with Go, Kotlin, and TypeScript, candidates with experience in C, C++, Java, or Python are also welcome, provided they are willing to learn new languages and frameworks.

The right person will be a collaborative team player who can think broadly, enjoys solving difficult problems, and is comfortable working independently while also asking for support and learning from teammates when needed. A genuine sense of pride in your work and a desire to contribute to meaningful technology products will be important in this role.

This role is based in Cambridge, England, United Kingdom and is an onsite position.
