Role overview
The British International School Abu Dhabi is looking for a Student Support Assistant to join its EAL team. This is a support position within a well-established, collaborative, and successful school environment that is continuing to grow. The appointed candidate will work under the direction of the EAL Coordinator and Head of Inclusion to support students who are learning English as an Additional Language, while helping them progress academically and feel supported in their wellbeing.
Key duties
In this role, you will work alongside class teachers, the EAL Coordinator, and the Head of Inclusion to deliver tailored support to individual pupils and small groups. You will adapt learning materials and strategies to suit different learner needs, track student progress, keep clear and accurate records, and help create and review Individual EAL Plans and related support programmes. The role also involves building constructive relationships with students, families, and colleagues, encouraging confidence, independence, and effective communication. You will contribute to the wider school community by attending meetings, working collaboratively with the EAL team, and supporting stronger home-school partnerships.
Language requirements
Applicants must be fluent in English. Knowledge of an additional language will be considered an advantage.
