Role overview
This apprenticeship offers the chance to earn while you learn, gain a recognised qualification, and contribute to data-led work that supports a charity focused on community impact. The position sits within the Impact & Insights team at LFC Foundation and is designed to develop practical skills across core data activities.
The programme leads to a Level 3 Data Technician apprenticeship and includes structured training, guidance and development support. Over the course of the apprenticeship, the apprentice will build capability in sourcing, formatting and presenting data securely for analysis, communicating findings clearly, supporting analysis of structured and unstructured information, and applying legal and ethical principles when working with data.
Day-to-day exposure will cover programme delivery, fundraising, community engagement and operational activity, helping the apprentice understand how data is collected, used and reported across the organisation. The role also provides hands-on experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning, including data collection, quality assurance, reporting, dashboard creation, case study evidence and social impact insight.
What you will do
- Complete an 18-month fixed-term apprenticeship journey toward a Level 3 Data Technician qualification.
- Take active ownership of personal development through a plan agreed with the line manager, mentor and training provider.
- Support the Impact & Insights team and the wider foundation with routine data and reporting tasks.
- Help programme teams gather, enter and maintain accurate monitoring information in line with agreed processes and minimum standards.
- Gather, combine, organise and, where needed, clean data from internal systems, surveys, spreadsheets and programme monitoring tools.
- Contribute to the creation of tables, charts, dashboards, written summaries and reports for colleagues, funders and other stakeholders.
- Spot gaps, errors or inconsistencies in data and raise them with the Impact & Insights Manager or Coordinator.
- Assist with organising qualitative evidence such as case studies, feedback forms, focus group notes and interview summaries.
- Attend team meetings, training activities and apprenticeship review sessions, contributing where appropriate.
- Represent the foundation’s values and professional expectations in a positive way.
- Support departmental planning, impact-reporting priorities and continuous improvement work.
- Raise or report any data-quality, safeguarding, confidentiality or compliance concerns when required.
- Follow all relevant policies and procedures, including those covering data protection, safeguarding, health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Carry out other reasonable tasks as assigned by line management.
- Show commitment to the foundation’s mission, values and community impact.
- Demonstrate dedication to ongoing professional development and successful completion of the apprenticeship.
- Remain alert to safeguarding considerations when handling data related to children, young people and vulnerable adults.
