Data Scientist Expert (AI Community)

Role overview

TELUS Digital AI Data Solutions is looking for a data scientist to support its AI Community work. In this role, you will focus on checking data quality, assessing model behavior, and using evidence-based analysis to help improve AI systems. The work centers on evaluating performance, finding weaknesses or bias, and turning raw data into structured inputs for training large language models.

What you will do

• Create and run assessment frameworks that measure how accurate, useful, and safe models are when tested on large data collections.
• Clean, reshape, and prepare raw text data so it can be used effectively for LLM training.
• Study model failure patterns, build visual summaries of trends, and share findings that can guide further AI improvement.
• Write automated checks and scripts to track the reliability of human-labeled data and help maintain quality standards.

Required qualifications

Applicants need at least a bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or another closely related technical discipline. A minimum English proficiency level of B1 (intermediate) is required for communicating findings. Candidates must also be fluent in at least one language at a native level. Basic hands-on ability with data tools such as Python, SQL, or Excel is expected.

Assessment and verification
