Control Room Operator

Role summary

The Control Room Operator is responsible for running the power and water facility safely and efficiently, keeping plant performance on track, and ensuring that control systems support both commercial goals and environmental standards.

Mirfa International Power & Water Company (MIPCO), Mirfa, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Eligibility

This opportunity is restricted to male UAE nationals who hold a Family Book. The role also requires strong English fluency, as all workplace communication is conducted entirely in English.

Key duties

• Apply health and safety rules consistently and check that contractors follow site requirements.
• Run plant equipment and take prompt action during operational issues or emergencies.
• Carry out predictive and preventive maintenance activities.
• Calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation and control equipment.
• Help keep the plant operating efficiently and maintain a clean, orderly facility.

Work environment and safety

This is a high-risk role in a hazardous operating environment. Full personal protective equipment must be worn at all times, and all safety procedures must be followed. The position is classified as high risk under international safety regulations.

Qualifications and experience

A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, or another relevant engineering field is required. Candidates should have 3 to 5 years of experience, including field or plant control panel experience in power plant operations. Maintenance experience will also be considered.

Skills and qualities

The role calls for strong English communication, teamwork, computer literacy, diagnostic tool proficiency, and solid knowledge of safety, environmental, and emergency response practices. Arabic is an added advantage.

Working pattern

The standard schedule consists of two morning shifts and two night shifts, each lasting 12 hours, followed by four days off. Flexibility for both day and night shifts is essential, and the selected candidate must be willing to stay near the site during shift days.
