Role overview
This position supports clinical services within the Spires Cleft team, with a main focus on speech and language therapy, as well as Craniofacial Speech and Language Therapy and Facial Palsy. The role helps keep clinics, administration, and patient support running efficiently across the service.
Administrative support
- Handle day-to-day clinical administration, including issuing patient correspondence, entering data, scanning documents, monitoring patient pathways, and preparing or organising resource materials.
- Support audit and research work for both local and national projects.
- Help coordinate patient appointments and contribute to the delivery of care.
- Assist with the smooth operation of clinical review and audit clinics by arranging patients to be seen by different members of the multidisciplinary team in a timely way.
- Prepare specialty clinics for use, including checking that equipment is ready and suitable.
Patient and family support
- Use creative ability to help develop, prepare, and organise resources or equipment for therapeutic activities.
- Communicate with parents and carers in a sensitive manner that is adapted to each person’s needs.
- Engage with patients and families and support the collection of feedback, questionnaires, and assessments.
- Assist clinicians by supporting assessments and interventions where appropriate.
Teamwork and wider contribution
- Work independently while recognising personal limits and knowing when clinical guidance is needed.
- Contribute to team meetings and record minutes when required.
- Work cooperatively with other healthcare professionals and relevant agencies.
- Help organise locally and nationally run speech therapy training courses.
- Take part in discussions about service improvement and development.
