About the Opportunity

Invarium Insurance is a streamlined, digital-first specialist non-life insurer in Zimbabwe, and the business is looking for a foundational Claims Manager to create and run its claims capability.

Role Overview

This position owns the full claims journey, beginning with initial claim notification and continuing through to final settlement. The scope covers motor, fire, engineering, personal accident, and life claims. The role calls for building practical claims processes, safeguarding the insurer’s financial position through disciplined reserving and recovery efforts, driving fraud detection and investigation activity, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulatory obligations. Work will be based in the Harare office, with travel to accident locations and assessment sites when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Run the claims process end to end and keep turnaround targets on track.
• Manage claim reserves, recovery actions through subrogation, and salvage handling.
• Direct fraud identification, forensic reviews, and reporting on suspicious industry activity.
• Handle complaints in a way that reflects Treating Customers Fairly principles.
• Share claims performance information and loss-ratio insights with the Underwriting Manager.
• Hire and develop the claims team as the department expands.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Law, or a closely related discipline.
• A recognised professional qualification such as IIZ, ACII, AIISA, or an equivalent credential.
• Between five and seven years of progressive experience in short-term insurance, with two to three years spent in a senior claims or technical role.
• Working knowledge of the Insurance Act and the Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third Party Risks) Act.
• Hands-on exposure to a Core Insurance System environment.
• A valid Zimbabwean driver’s licence.
