About the Role
As a café team member, you’ll help keep the café running smoothly by combining food preparation, customer service, and cleanliness standards in a busy retail food setting. You’ll contribute to a welcoming customer experience by preparing dishes to menu standards, serving guests efficiently, and ensuring food safety is followed at all times. The role also includes keeping work areas, equipment, and tables clean and organised.
This is an active, varied position with day-to-day challenges, but it also offers flexible working patterns and room to grow within the business.
New colleagues are offered a minimum of 8 guaranteed hours per week. Your contracted hours will be scheduled within the availability windows shown for the role, and you’ll receive 3 weeks’ notice of your shifts. If your availability is close to, but not exactly aligned with, the advertised times, you’re still encouraged to apply.
You must be 18 or older to be considered for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep kitchen tools, equipment, and utensils clean and ready for use.
- Serve customers promptly, politely, and with a strong service focus.
- Follow food hygiene and safety rules, including maintaining required daily records.
- Rotate stock correctly using FIFO principles to help keep food fresh.
- Receive deliveries and store food safely and appropriately.
- Work in line with all operational procedures and workplace policies.
- Prepare, cook, and present menu items according to café standards.
- Ensure products are available and quality standards are maintained.
- Know the café menu well and serve items exactly as intended.
- Handle customer concerns and escalate feedback to the Café Manager when needed.
- Stay informed about business updates and new initiatives.
- Clear and sanitise tables to maintain a clean dining area.

- Working knowledge of health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining a tidy environment.
- Comfortable collaborating with others as part of a team.
- Clear communication skills and a proactive approach.

- Confidence to use initiative and improve how work is done.
- Good planning and organisational skills.
