Backend Software Engineer - AI Trainer

Role overview

This position is for an experienced backend software engineer who will contribute to AI training work. You will join a large coding community of more than 100,000 professionals across front-end, back-end, full-stack, machine learning, and related engineering disciplines, all helping improve real-world AI systems.

The work combines flexibility with technical challenge. You will collaborate with advanced AI models on programming tasks such as creating and solving complex coding exercises, developing polished applications with substantial functionality, and turning data into insights through analysis and visualization. Your output helps refine intelligent systems as they learn and improve over time. Some contributors do this alongside another full-time job, while others use it as their main work and select projects and schedules based on their availability.

How the process works

After creating an account, you will complete a short assessment, which functions as the screening step. If you pass, you will receive confirmation by email and paid tasks will then become available through the platform.

Work arrangement and compensation

This is an independent contractor opportunity. You can decide which projects to take and when to work. The role is performed on your own computer from home. Project pay starts at $50-$100+ per hour, and some assignments may offer higher rates.

Responsibilities

• Create and solve a wide range of coding challenges used to train AI models, with a strong focus on Android development.
• Produce clean code examples and explain solutions clearly and thoroughly.
• Review AI-generated code for correctness, efficiency, and readability.
• Share feedback that helps improve the next generation of AI systems.

Qualifications

This opportunity is open only to applicants in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Candidates outside these locations will not currently see assessments or available work. Applicants should have fluent English skills at a native or bilingual level, strong writing and grammar ability, and a bachelor’s degree that is completed or still in progress. Prior experience as a software developer, coder, software engineer, or programmer is an advantage.

Payment and terms

Compensation is processed through PayPal, and PayPal handles any USD currency conversion. You will never be asked to pay any fee or send money. This role is offered on an independent contractor basis.

Technical focus

Preferred experience includes Kotlin. You should also be proficient in at least one of these languages or frameworks: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, C, C#, C++, React, Go, Java, or Swift.
