What the role supports
The service provides high-quality, person-centred care in well-equipped residential settings and engaging day programmes. The team works with people living with a broad range of support needs, including autism, Asperger syndrome, acquired brain injury, challenging behaviour, intellectual disabilities with Alzheimer’s or dementia, mental health rehabilitation and recovery, and personality disorders.
Main purpose of the post
The Assistant Support Worker will help people using the service to live more independently, work toward their goals, and take part in meaningful daily life within their communities. Training and upskilling will be provided so the successful candidate can deliver quality care and maintain effective working relationships with service users and colleagues.
Key duties
- Assist individuals in organising and managing everyday routines and activities.
- Support people to access and participate in their local community.
- Help service users with education, skill-building, and personal outcome goals.
- Promote independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, attending appointments, and maintaining family and social links.
- Follow company policies, procedures, standards, regulations, and relevant codes of practice as far as reasonably possible.
- Work flexibly across a 24-hour, 7-day service to meet changing service needs.
- Carry out additional duties appropriate to the position when required.
