Assistant R&M Manager

Role Overview

This position supports the engineering and facilities function at JW Marriott in Doha, Qatar. The role focuses on keeping tools, appliances, equipment, and life-safety systems in proper working order, while also helping guide and support the maintenance team to deliver reliable service in a luxury hotel environment.

Key Duties

• Carry out installation, upkeep, preventive servicing, and replacement recommendations for tools, appliances, and equipment.
• Check and adjust controls, gauges, meters, and similar instruments to keep them operating accurately.
• Locate, identify, and operate shut-off valves when required.
• Arrange orders, label items, and maintain stock of parts and supplies.
• Track inventory and purchase order records.
• Inspect tools, machinery, and equipment to assess condition and performance.
• Use computer systems to enter and retrieve work-related information.
• Operate power lift equipment as needed.
• Complete life-safety inspections, including fire pump run tests and generator run tests.
• Inspect fire sprinkler valves and alarm systems.
• Support the creation of disaster response procedures.
• Respond to and follow up on guest repair needs.

Supervisory and Team Support

• Assist managers with hiring, onboarding, training, work scheduling, performance reviews, counseling, discipline, and team motivation.
• Build positive working relationships and help the team work toward shared goals.
• Support continuous improvement in efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and cost control.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and guests.

Standards and Safety

• Follow all company, safety, and security procedures at all times.
• Report maintenance issues, hazards, accidents, and injuries promptly.
• Complete required safety training and certifications.
• Maintain a clean, professional uniform and personal appearance.
• Protect confidential and proprietary information.
• Deliver courteous service to guests, including those with disabilities, and respond to their needs promptly.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties assigned by supervisors.

Working Conditions

This role requires frequent physical activity, including reaching overhead and below the knees, bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods. The job also involves moving up and down stairs or service ramps and handling objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.

Preferred Qualification

A Technical, Trade, or Vocational School degree is preferred. The role also calls for at least 2 years of relevant work experience and at least 2 years of supervisory experience. No license or certification is required.
