About the Role
Four Points by Sheraton Kelowna Airport and Hampton Inn & Suites Kelowna Airport are hiring an Assistant Maintenance Manager to support the upkeep, safety, and overall appearance of the property. This position plays a key role in keeping buildings, grounds, pools, equipment, and shared spaces operating smoothly while helping maintain a high standard of guest experience.
The property is located near Kelowna Airport and is accessible by bus, with a stop close to the hotel. Employees are also picked up from the UBCO bus loop.
What You’ll Do
You will work across both hotel properties and help lead the maintenance team in a hands-on, service-focused environment. The role combines supervision, planning, troubleshooting, and practical repair work across multiple trades.
- Support the Maintenance Manager in delivering safe, efficient, and proactive maintenance operations.
- Lead by example and help ensure maintenance standards are consistently met.
- Assist with hiring, supervision, coaching, mentoring, scheduling, and discipline of team members.
- Help set departmental goals and daily priorities.
- Assign and coordinate daily maintenance tasks.
- Respond to emergencies such as power failures, fire, flooding, and earthquakes with an effective action plan.
- Take charge of maintenance responsibilities when the Manager is unavailable, including scheduling, coordinating outside contractors, attending management meetings, and ensuring preventive maintenance is completed on time.
- Maintain stock levels of supplies and make purchases when needed while keeping receipts.
- Use sound judgment when approving overtime and expenses.
- Perform maintenance team member duties when required.
- Ensure preventive maintenance tasks are completed thoroughly and on schedule.
- Track projects from start to finish.
- Help organize and streamline maintenance work.
- Oversee repair and upkeep of equipment and building systems.
- Plan and prioritize work orders.
- Keep other departments informed on the status of their requests.
- Meet regularly with the Maintenance Manager to review staffing, operational conditions, equipment issues, and repair estimates.
- Monitor maintenance spending for labour, materials, and contractor costs within budget limits.
- Work directly on repairs and upkeep wherever needed, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, drywall, painting, irrigation, pool and spa care, mechanical systems, pumps, lighting, dock repairs, winterization, inspections, HVAC filter changes, and detailed cleaning.
- Develop team members and reinforce department vision, policies, and service standards.
- Support guest relations efforts so service expectations are met or exceeded.
- Help design and deliver team training based on the training manual.
- Look for better ways to improve processes and bring forward practical solutions.
- Attend training sessions, orientations, and meetings as scheduled.

- Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership position within maintenance.
- Good working knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and general building care.
- Practical troubleshooting and repair ability across several trades.
