About the role
The Livestock Team is hiring for Assistant Farm Managers on broiler farms. There are two opportunities available: a 6-month fixed-term position and a permanent role. Applicants can indicate in their application whether they want to be considered for one or both of these options.
In this position, you will partner closely with the Farm Manager and take full responsibility whenever the Farm Manager is away. Your focus will be to keep the farm running efficiently, safely, and in line with Tegel’s standards. The role combines practical animal care with planning and operational oversight, all aimed at producing strong flocks in a cost-effective manner.
This opportunity will suit someone who likes taking initiative, works well with detail, and enjoys tackling challenges directly on site.
Key responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day livestock care and maintain high animal welfare standards.
- Build and support a positive team environment, including training and performance guidance.
- Cover Farm Manager duties when needed.
- Maintain health and safety standards and actively reduce workplace risks.
- Handle general upkeep and minor repairs so farm operations continue without interruption.
- Contribute to improvement projects and assist with practical problem-solving initiatives.
