Role overview

Bates Smart is seeking architects, architecture graduates, and architectural technicians to join its Sydney studio in Surry Hills. The team is looking for people who can contribute to large-scale, complex projects across design development and delivery, with a focus on coordination and documentation support. Candidates with around 5 or more years of relevant experience are preferred, and strong Revit capability is essential. Backgrounds in infrastructure and major projects will be viewed favourably.

What you will do

• Work closely with Project Leaders, Studio Directors, and the wider project team to help deliver high-quality design outcomes.
• Support project leaders in the management of architecture projects.
• Take part in design conversations and idea development.
• Prepare documentation and presentation materials for clients, consultants, and authorities.
• Maintain clear communication with project leaders and team members.
• Research and apply relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
• Provide regular progress updates to the project leader when needed.
• Contribute actively to the goals and standards of Bates Smart.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development.

Essential requirements

• A Master of Architecture degree, or an equivalent qualification.
• A strong design sense and sound architectural judgement.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-based environment.
• Confident communication and stakeholder liaison skills across all levels.
• Capability to work toward deadlines and project objectives.
• High attention to detail.
• Proactive approach and willingness to take initiative.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.
• Advanced working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
• At least 5 years of experience on large-scale, complex projects.

Compensation

The offered salary range is AUD 85,000 to AUD 100,000, depending on experience.
