Role overview
Business Risk Partners (BRP) is looking for an Analytics & AI Intern to join its Windsor, Connecticut team for the Aug–Dec 2026 term or the Fall term. BRP is a program administrator and managing general underwriting agency that specializes in commercial liability coverage for middle-market clients through a nationwide network of agents and brokers. Founded in 2000, the company has around 40 employees working across marketing, underwriting, and administration.
What you will work on
- Identify practical ways artificial intelligence can improve daily business operations and solve real operational problems.
- Use Microsoft Power Platform products, including Power Automate, Power Apps, and Power BI.
- Build, develop, and support AI-based workflow automation that streamlines business processes and improves efficiency.
- Help create and test automation tools that speed up and simplify internal work.
- Contribute to testing, documentation, and continuous improvement of the solutions developed.
- Partner with colleagues from data, technology, and business teams.
- Investigate emerging AI tools and industry trends and share findings with the team.
Candidate profile
- Applicants should be working toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or a similar discipline.
- Students who expect to graduate in January 2027 or May 2027 are preferred.
- Some exposure to AI tools or concepts is expected, whether from coursework, independent projects, or self-directed learning.
- Working knowledge of generative AI concepts such as large language models, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and AI assistants is required.
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform tools such as Power Automate, Power Apps, and Copilot Studio is beneficial, though not mandatory.
- Strong SQL Server skills or experience with a similar relational database platform are important, including the ability to write, interpret, and tune complex SQL queries.
- Comfort with data and enthusiasm for learning more are important.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team are needed.
Preferred background
- Hands-on experience with AI assistants, chatbots, or workflow automation is an advantage.
- Exposure to cloud environments such as Azure is desirable.
- Experience with Python, JavaScript, or another programming language is helpful.
- Prior internship or project experience in AI, data, or analytics is a plus.
- Knowledge of enterprise data warehouse environments and dimensional modeling concepts is preferred.
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT workflows and data integration methods is useful.
- Understanding of data governance, data quality, and security practices is beneficial.
Compensation and schedule
The internship runs for August to December 2026 or the Fall term. It is a part-time role with 20 hours per week and is classified as non-exempt. The hourly pay rate is $22. Under Connecticut regulations, the compensation offered for this role may also include eligibility for performance-based bonuses.
