About the team
Join the University of Otago’s Student Administration group within the Academic Division, supporting the students who shape the university’s future. The team helps keep the student journey running smoothly for around 21,000 students by processing and validating applications, keeping student records up to date, coordinating examinations, and assisting thousands of graduates each year.
About the role
There are four full-time vacancies available in Student Administration. Two are permanent roles focused on Admissions and Course Management, while two are fixed-term roles supporting Graduation, Examinations, Course Management, and Scholarships. The exact mix of duties will depend on the portfolio assigned, but each position contributes to delivering a high-quality experience for students throughout their time at the university.
The work is varied and may involve carrying out duties at different workplaces or locations across campus. The university also offers ongoing training and development so successful applicants can broaden their capabilities and gain experience across several Student Administration functions.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a busy administrative setting, a strong eye for detail, and a genuine commitment to customer service. You should be able to work both independently and as part of a team, and be confident using Microsoft Office and general computer systems.
Working arrangements
These are full-time roles of 37.5 hours per week, based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin. The positions include both permanent and fixed-term appointments.
Eligibility
Applicants must have the right to live and work in New Zealand.
Pay
The salary range for this role is NZ$63,508 to NZ$68,185 per year, with a top of range of NZ$73,640.
Application requirements
Applications should include a CV, a cover letter, and the names and contact details of two referees who have agreed to provide a confidential reference. One referee must be your current or most recent manager. Referees will only be contacted if your application progresses beyond the interview stage.
Additional information
For questions about the permanent roles, contact Khazima Tahir. For questions about the fixed-term roles, contact Pauline Ellwood using the contact details provided in the original listing. Applications are assigned reference number 2600999 and close on Monday, 13 July 2026.
