Role Overview
The Transportation Operations Coordinator helps keep transportation activities running efficiently by coordinating carriers, service providers, facilities, and customer stakeholders. The role focuses on improving performance, reducing transportation cost, and ensuring shipments move smoothly through the network.
Work Schedule
This is a Monday-to-Friday position with working hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop strong customer relationships and deliver responsive service that aligns with client needs and goals.
- Spot service issues that could affect customer satisfaction and work toward practical fixes that improve the overall experience.
- Coordinate the movement of goods by working with customers, 3PLs, carriers, warehouses, and other partners to support agreed KPIs and OKRs, including OTIF.
- Plan shipments by balancing cost, transit time, and transport mode, while arranging pickups and deliveries with freight forwarders, carriers, and haulage providers.
- Support carrier and service provider performance across hub-and-spoke locations.
- Oversee transportation activities tied to warehouse inbound and outbound flow, as well as warehouse and trailer capacity planning.
- Collect, review, and interpret data to help improve transportation efficiency at the assigned warehouse site.
- Work with customer teams, warehouses, carriers, service providers, and onsite colleagues to resolve operational issues.
- Act as the primary contact for internal teams, outside vendors, and customers on logistics-related questions, shipment updates, and issue resolution.
- Serve as a liaison between the warehouse vendor and the carrier.
- Support both domestic and international shipments and ensure partner carriers understand warehouse requirements and urgent shipment priorities.
- Track inbound and outbound deliveries to ensure shipments arrive at the requested destination.
- Take initiative to identify and clear bottlenecks in shipping and receiving processes.
- Create, track, and analyze carrier KPIs and performance metrics to support transportation review and improvement.
- Recommend corrective actions for recurring delivery problems and opportunities, and help update SOPs.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent amount of relevant work experience is required.
- 1–2 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or transportation is preferred.
- Hands-on exposure to logistics tools and systems such as ERP, TMS, and WMS is expected.
- Understanding of international shipping rules and customs processes is needed.
- Strong communication and negotiation ability is important for this role.
- Applicants should be comfortable interpreting data and using it to make informed decisions.
- Excellent customer service capability is essential.
- A self-driven approach with the ability to sort, prioritize, and manage tasks in a busy environment is required.
