Role overview
The Technical Office Manager will oversee the full range of technical office functions for construction and MEP projects. This role brings together quantity surveying, estimation, cost control, shop drawing review, technical submittals, engineering coordination, and broader technical support across project delivery.
What you will handle
- Lead and coordinate the technical office team, including engineers and coordinators.
- Examine and sign off on shop drawings and technical submissions.
- Prepare and validate quantity take-offs and BOQs.
- Drive estimation work and support cost analysis activities.
- Assist the Tendering Department with both technical and commercial proposal input.
- Study specifications, drawings, and contract paperwork in detail.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal project teams on technical matters.
- Address and close out technical issues that arise during project execution.
- Track variation orders, claims, and other technical contract-related matters.
- Contribute to value engineering efforts and cost-saving initiatives.
- Follow up on technical approvals and ensure submissions are made on schedule.
Qualifications and experience
A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering is required. The position calls for at least 10 years of experience in construction or contracting, with hands-on exposure to technical office management, quantity surveying, and project estimation.
