Position Overview
Yass Valley Council is looking for a dependable, driven Skilled Labourer to join its Transport Infrastructure team in Jerrawa, New South Wales. This permanent full-time position is focused on supporting the upkeep and improvement of local infrastructure, while contributing to a collaborative regional council environment.
The role is based in the Yass region and involves hands-on civil works across road maintenance, drainage, construction activities, plant operation and general labouring duties.

Role Details
In this position, you will support a wide variety of civil maintenance and construction tasks. The work includes skilled labouring, general labouring, operating plant and machinery, assisting with drainage and road works, and carrying out manual handling tasks as required across the Yass Valley region.
Key Duties
- Contribute to road works through a mix of skilled labour and general labouring tasks.
- Use plant and equipment involved in road construction, maintenance and drainage activities.
- Complete manual work using hand tools such as shovels, crowbars, brooms, rakes and hammers.
- Carry out traffic control duties when required.
- Help improve work methods by identifying ways to make processes more effective and efficient.
- Drive and operate vehicles responsibly and in line with road rules and safety requirements.
About You
Yass Valley Council is seeking someone with practical construction or maintenance labouring experience, a strong safety mindset and the ability to work well within a team. A current driver licence is required, and experience with plant and equipment is preferred.
You should also hold a White Card and have current traffic control qualifications issued by Transport NSW, or be willing to obtain them.

Compensation
The salary range for this role is $55,839.68 to $62,682.36 per year, plus 12% superannuation, depending on skills, experience and qualifications. The position is graded between Grade 2 and Grade 4 under the Council’s Salary System and the Local Government State Award.
