Service Delivery - Database Administrator

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join their Information Technology Services – Service Operations & Delivery team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about managing complex database environments, cloud platforms, and enterprise-level solutions. This role is crucial for ensuring the high availability, security, and performance of client database systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the management, administration, and optimization of client database environments to guarantee peak availability, robust security, and optimal performance.
• Execute the installation, configuration, upgrading, patching, and ongoing maintenance of database systems.
• Conduct essential database operations including backup, recovery, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Administer databases across a variety of platforms such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Azure, on-premises, and ExaCC environments.
• Proactively monitor database performance, identifying and resolving operational issues before they impact services.
• Provide support for database migrations, system upgrades, and significant infrastructure modifications.
• Plan and manage database storage needs, implementing effective data protection strategies.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects on database design, deployment, documentation, and procedural development.
• Maintain precise database configuration details within the CMDB and ensure operational documentation is up-to-date.
• Support the Change and Release Management processes to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruption.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 4 to 5 years of dedicated experience in Database Administration or a comparable IT role.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, RDBMS, and ATP environments.
• Proven expertise in database backup, recovery, tuning, and general administration.
• Proficiency in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) administration, including IAM, access policies, authentication, and compute management.
• Experience with Azure database/server administration.
• Familiarity with Windows Server and Microsoft Clustering Services.
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Linux clustering technologies.
• Experience working within enterprise managed service environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on client support.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional technical teams.
• A strong commitment to service excellence and continuous improvement.

This is a full-time, onsite position located in Doha, Qatar.
