Role Summary
This is a full-time position based in Kolkata for a Senior Upwork Bidder. The role is focused on managing the complete bidding cycle on Upwork and similar freelance marketplaces. You will search for strong-fit projects, write customized proposals, respond quickly to client questions, and work closely with internal teams to shape accurate budgets, timelines, and value-led pitches. The position also includes profile optimization, performance tracking, strategy improvement, participation in discovery discussions, support during contract finalization, and coordination with delivery teams after a deal is secured.
What You Will Do
- Identify and pursue high-potential projects on Upwork and comparable platforms.
- Prepare tailored, persuasive proposals that match each client’s needs.
- Reply promptly and professionally to client messages and clarifications.
- Work with sales, design, and development teams to understand offerings, scope, pricing, and timelines.
- Present clear business and technical value to prospective clients.
- Maintain and improve the Upwork profile to strengthen visibility and credibility.
- Monitor bid outcomes, conversion data, and win/loss trends to guide decision-making.
- Refine bidding methods, proposal formats, and pricing approaches to raise conversion and deal size.
- Take part in client discovery calls and help clarify scope, expectations, and objections.
- Support negotiation and handoff steps so delivery teams can take over smoothly after project approval.
Requirements
- Previous work as an Upwork Bidder, Business Development Executive, or in a similar role handling international clients and freelance-platform bidding.
- Strong ability to draft proposals, study client requirements, and convert technical capabilities into clear business outcomes.
- Confident communication and negotiation skills, including discovery conversations and objection handling.
- Familiarity with software development, web and mobile applications, or SaaS solutions.
- Experience with lead qualification, pipeline tracking, and basic CRM or monitoring tools.
- A data-oriented approach with comfort testing bidding styles, pricing, and proposal structures.
- Capability to thrive in a fast-moving startup environment and manage several bids and deadlines at once.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, IT, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience working with clients across different time zones, along with flexibility to work adjusted hours when required for important interactions.
